The biofertilizer produced by Greenway will be considered EU fertilizer,free of nitrates, and with CO2 and phosphorus recovery in the process, which makes it especially credible to an agricultural market in need of this type of product to comply with new regulatory requirements and optimize its economy.

Greenway Bioprocesses Group is committed to protecting the environment through the capture and saving of CO2 emissions, as well as through the production of biofertilizers, which will facilitate the transit and substitution of chemical fertilizers in agriculture.

Chemical fertilizers were developed to maximize production and reduce costs. These artificial fertilizers were therefore created as a quick way to give back to the soil the vivacity and nutrients that it tends to lose as a consequence of successive and incessant sowings.

 

However, the fact that inorganic fertilizers are absorbed so quickly by the soil has a large negative cost:

 

Contamination of surface and groundwater due to nitrate saturation. Excess nitrogen can generate an imbalance in the microbial population, affecting crops.

 

Acid soils: Infertility of the soil is caused by changing the soil pH.

 

Infertility in soils: Medium-term degradation of soil life and reduction of microorganisms useful for plant nutrition.

 

Increase of microorganisms: Excess nitrogen can lead to an increase in the population of microorganisms, affecting crops and consuming soil nutrients.

Converting agricultural, livestock and agri-food waste into high quality biofertilizers.

Bio-CO2 generation: Bio-CO2 can be generated from fermentation or decomposition processes of organic biomass. For example, agricultural, livestock or agri-food waste can undergo an anaerobic fermentation process, where it is decomposed by the action of microorganisms in an oxygen-free environment. This process produces biogas, which contains methane (CH4) and CO2 as by-products. The CO2 generated in this process would be considered bio-CO2, since it comes from renewable biological sources.

 

CO2 capture and purification: Once the bio-CO2 has been generated, it is necessary to capture and purify it for later use. There are several technologies available for CO2 capture, such as chemical absorption or the use of selective membranes. These technologies make it possible to separate CO2 from other gases present in the biogas stream and obtain high purity CO2.

 

Biofertilizer production: During the process of anaerobic biodigestion of by-products of agricultural and livestock activities, as well as of certain biocrops, biomethane gas and CO2 gas are extracted, leaving a digestate from which two types of NPK biofertilizers are extracted, a solid and a liquid, both with the advantage of:

In addition to biofertilizers or organic fertilizers, Grupo Greenway Bioprocesos can also produce "a la carte" fertilizers, that is, organo-mineral fertilizers adapted to the specific needs of each crop, and therefore of the market.
